Brandt marched four seasons with the  Madison Scouts (2002-2005) whereas he served as section leader and horn sergeant in his age-out year. He has taught visual technique for Spirit from JSU (2006), Mt. Juliet High School in Nashville, Tennessee, St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, Louisiana, and the Madison Scouts in 2008.

He currently holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University in which he was a permanent member of the highly esteemed Golden Band from Tigerland from 2002 to 2005.

Brandt was commissioned as an Officer in 2007 and is currently serving in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant (1LT) Platoon Leader at Fort Carson, Colorado. Brandt is responsible for training and leading Soldiers in the craft of Field Artillery (cannons, rockets, and missile fires) and has recently returned from a  12 month deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
