Beyond Drum Corps
Yes, the Madison Scouts compete in an activity called drum & bugle corps, but membership in the Scouts extends well beyond the boundaries of the football field. The ultimate goal of the Madison Scouts is to develop life skills that will serve you for the remainder of your life. Values such as honesty, integrity and accountability are taught and practiced on a daily basis.
As a member of the Madison Scouts you will have the opportunity to advance your musicianship, perfect your color guard skills and develop the art of performance. But beyond the show, you will find yourself developing leadership capabilities, discover new found personal confidence and develop a fraternal bond not only with your fellow marching members, but with generations of Madison Scouts who have shared the same experiences as you.
The Madison Scouts corps is unique in that it represents 70 years of refined organizational purpose. While the Scouts respect the competitive element of its activity, the primary objective is the experience of our members. We also recognize that the people we most have to entertain is the audience.
The Scouts have always and will continue to be a fan-focused organization. As a member of the Scouts you can expect to create, perfect, and perform a show that will undoubtedly have thousands of fans standing and cheering for your efforts.
“The Madison Scouts has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. From the hard work to the incredible performances, the experience from this organization builds determination, leadership, and all aspects of your character.

There is nothing like lighting up an audience with a powerful performance.”

Alex Houston
Drum Major, 2007-08
Horn Line 2004-06
“The Madison Scouts taught me to set high goals for myself, and not only achieve them but to surpass my expectations.

As the season progressed, the notes I played, the guys I stood next to everyday and the friends I made became that driving force I needed to push myself beyond my personal goals.”

Kenny Casados
Drum Line, 2007-08
If you are interested in becoming a Madison Scout, we encourage you to speak with any current or past members and ask them about their experience. Examine the educational experiences of the staff and explore the history of the corps. The Madison Scouts are not for everyone, but if you have the desire to commit yourself to excellence and pursue the principles of the corps then we encourage you to pursue your dream.
